What this site is
This site is a dealer’s shopfront window: field notes from the hunt, a record of how I work, and a door for those who want a stone found. Nothing is bought or sold on these pages — there is no basket, no checkout, no published price list. When a stone appears here, or behind a key in the vault, that is an invitation to write. It is not a binding offer to sell.
How a sale is made
A stone is sold the way it has always been done in this trade: by correspondence, in person where possible, against an invoice, with an independent laboratory report in hand. Until an invoice is issued and settled, any stone may be re-priced or withdrawn — good stones move quickly, and I hold nothing that has not been committed to. The invoice and the report are the documents that govern a sale. A webpage is not one of them.
The journal is not advice
The journal is education from the field — what I have seen, cut, bought, and refused. It is not a valuation of your stone, not a promise about any market, and not investment advice. Prices quoted in field notes are observations with dates on them, not offers. A gemstone is judged in the hand, against a laboratory report — never from an article.
Whose words and images these are
The words and photographs on this site are mine unless credited otherwise. Quote a line with a link and my name, and we have no quarrel. Republish whole pages, or pass my images off as your inventory, and we do. The VISSOT name and the gem marks are mine as well.
The limits
I keep this site accurate the way I keep my ledger accurate — carefully, and by hand. Still, it is provided as it stands: I cannot promise a page is free of error or always reachable, and nothing here creates a client relationship until we have corresponded and agreed terms for a specific stone. Decisions belong on correspondence, viewings, and laboratory reports — the site is the introduction, not the transaction. To the extent the law allows, I accept no liability for what is done on the strength of a webpage alone. Questions about these terms take one message: lambert@lambertvissot.com.
